Trees are one of our most valuable resources. In addition to providing shade and beautifying our streets our urban trees capture and clean stormwater runoff, remove pollution from the air, store carbon, and produce oxygen. Trees have been proven to reduce stress and improve concentration. Our trees improve our communities.
In order to strategically manage our Urban Forest, StreetsLA has contracted Davey Resource Group to conduct the first inventory of our 700,000 street trees since the late 1990’s. Licensed arborists will visit and assess each street tree, stump and vacant planting location, working in two Neighborhood Councils at a time, (one in the metro and one in the valley). Click here for brochure. Information about each street tree will be available to the public on a mobile-friendly website that will also include the trees within city parks.
The data collected by Davey will include:
• Tree Location
• Tree Species
• Tree Size
• Distance from other Infrastructure
